With around five billion mobile phone users and some 1000 minute signing up to mobile networks, the range of mobile apps can only continue to expand. Closer to home, Auckland-based company Mobilis Networks is already taking advantage of the expanding market for mobile applications in developing countries. It recently released the Mobilis Mobile Money Transaction Platform which allows subscribers to send money via mobile to any other mobile instantly, securely and without the need for bank account.

This sort of innovative product development has made the company star performer in the Deloitte Fast 50 companies list released last week. With growth rate of 1078%, it earned category awards for “fastest growing technology business” and “fastest growing exporter” in Auckland/Upper North Island.

The company is entirely export-based, selling into developing areas in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. www.mobilis.com
