BOOKCASE : Awakening the Entrepreneur Within

• Michael E Gerber

• Harper Collins NZ

• RRP $34.99

American author Michael Gerber is best known for his e-myth series, the most popular of which The E-Myth Revisited: Why most small businesses don’t work and what to do about it has been on business best-seller lists for years. Gerber’s latest offering for e-type people (ie, entrepreneurs) is Awakening the Entrepreneur Within: How ordinary people can create extraordinary companies. While any book which kicks off with 14 pages of quoted endorsements tends to grate somewhat, the subsequent journey into Gerber’s ‘Dreaming Room’ where readers can dream their entrepreneurial dreams and work through the steps needed to realise those dreams is disturbingly compelling.
Not my cup of tea, but it is easy to follow, has good pedigree and is probably even inspirational if you are so inclined. I have no doubt this book, like Gerber’s others, will have long reign on global best-seller lists. The man knows what he’s talking about and how to appeal to lot of people.
