BOOKCASE : When People Matter Most: Vision-Driven Leadership

• Colin Prentice & Ian Hunter • Dunmore Publishing • $29.90

Colin Prentice has turned out an immensely readable personal account of his life and thoughts to date. It’s good Kiwi stuff: early family life and school years through to his terms as principal of Auckland’s Macleans College and later Mt Roskill Grammar; his transformation into CEO of World Vision New Zealand; and, finally, his time as director of the Schools Partnership Office at the University of Auckland.
His learnings may all have happened outside of the corporate environment but they are highly transferable. Plus it sounds way harder to deal with 800 recalcitrant youths than with bunch of business people.
