In Box: Top-performing CFO for Opus

Global infrastructure design, construction and asset management company, Opus International Consultants, has appointed Gordon Davidson as CFO. He is currently CFO of Kiwibank and has an extensive banking background with Bank of Scotland, National Bank and the ANZ.
With 2400 employees working from over 76 offices in more than 20 countries, and string of export awards since 2002, Opus’ history is one of successful transition from the Ministry of Works and Development to fully privately owned company.
In 1988 Opus became the consultancy division of the then State-Owned-Enterprise, Works and Development Services Corporation NZ.  In 1996, Works Consultancy Services was sold to Kinta Kellas of Malaysia and the company subsequently changed its name to Opus International Consultants in 1997.
CFO-elect Davidson moved to Kiwibank in 2008, where he’s overseen significant improvement in core business performance. He led mergers and acquisitions activity delivering Gareth Morgan Investments, Kiwi Asset Finance, and New Zealand Home Loans, held responsibility for growing assets at 10 percent or more each year, and introduced 10 year capital plan modelling.
He previously spent three years as CFO of Inland Revenue where he successfully shifted the organisation to International Finance Reporting Standards and developed the Managing for Outcomes framework.
As chief manager of finance at the National Bank from 1998 to 2003, Davidson was responsible for all aspects of finance and taxation. Following the purchase of National Bank by ANZ in 2003, he became head of finance and oversaw one of the the largest financial sector integrations in New Zealand history. M
