A range of value-adding initiatives introduced by the HR team at Quality Bakers earned its national human resources manager Michael Peters the accolade of Young HR Practitioner of the Year in the HRINZ 2009/2010 Awards.
Peters took on the role two years ago at the age of 25 and he and his team have worked on radical restructure of the company as well as transforming trade union relations, introducing training programmes and implementing talent management strategies. Other winners were NZSki for HR Initiative of the Year; Manukau City Council HR manager Craig Morris as HR Generalist and Supreme HR Person of the Year; and, digital strategy programme manager for the NZ Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux Diane Edwards as HR Specialist of the Year. New Zealand Customs Service won both the Southern Cross Wellness Award and the SSC Public Sector Award for its Leadership Development Path programme.
