CEO of Harcourts New Zealand for the past eight years, Thomson has been appointed to the new role of head of real estate operations for Harcourts’ Australasia. He will be responsible for the operation, growth and success of Harcourts in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.

Joe Grayland, Jodi Willison
The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants has announced two executive appointments to its professional development team. Grayland, previously director of liberal studies at Boston Architectural College in America, is the new director, professional development. Willison is the new manager, e-learning. She was previously the education manager for the Property Institute of New Zealand.

Murray Denyer
A former international trade negotiations lawyer has become partner with Tauranga law firm Cooney Lees Morgan. Denyer has been consultant there since 2009. Previously he spent five years as general manager corporate services and general counsel for Zespri, and prior to that he was senior associate at Minter Ellison Rudd Watts.

Paul Maher
Starcom MediaVest Group’s executive vice president has been named TVNZ’s head of sales and marketing. Paul Maher will take up the new role, created in March’s restructuring of the company’s executive team, in August.

Greg Barclay, Murray Henshall
Merchant services provider SmartPay has made changes to its board of directors. Henshall, founding director has resigned and Barclay, an Auckland-based lawyer, has been appointed as non-independent director. The board intends appointing fifth director later in the year.

Chris Paterson, John Young
Brookfields Lawyers has appointed two new partners. Paterson is specialist in resource management, public and liquor law and Young has wide range of expertise in commercial property.

Yael Milbank
Currently sales manager at Trade Me Wellington, Milbank will take over the role of advertising director at New Zealand’s biggest website from August. He replaces Michael Gregg.

Frances Hook
After spending two years working at Clifford Chance in London as conflicts lawyer in its risk management team, Hook has rejoined Buddle Findlay’s Christchurch office as solicitor in the litigation team.

Pip King
Prime Hotels in Wellington has appointed King, who has experience in the liquor and hospitality industries, as its business development manager.
