Report underscores value of emotional support

The Choice Career Services Australian Outplacement Review report reveals that:

During times of restructure, emotional support is highly valued by employees – although employers undervalue its significance;

Building relevance for Gen Y when managing change is major challenge for employers; and

One-to-one support is, and will continue to be, the most effective and valued way of delivering outplacement services.

A significant number of survey respondents (70 percent) signalled the changing role of consultant/coach as part of outplacement programme delivery. They said there is now more emphasis on job search activities, career consulting, and use of social media to assist with job searching and networking.

Choice Career Services www.choicecareerservices.com.au says it aims to challenge the thinking of both users and potential users of outplacement firms, and generate thought-provoking conversations between outplacement providers and their clients.

The company is hosting lunches in Sydney (Wednesday May 15) and Melbourne (Wednesday May 22) to discuss the findings and implications of this report in more detail.
