RWC: More than just a sporting tournament

In deciding on what game to open the tournament with, Rugby New Zealand 2011’s Ltd chief executive Martin Snedden says there was considerable debate about who the All Blacks should play from their pool. World Cup nemesis France was the obvious first choice but Snedden says after much thought, they plumped for South Pacific neighbour Tonga. Here’s the reason why – take look at this opening gambit from when the All Blacks and Tonga met in Australia.
