One woman, two men – Wellington project engineer, South Island manager for Solid Energy and an Auckland bank manager – are the three regional finalists in this year’s Young Executive of the Year Awards.
Jonnette Adams, who works as project engineer for Transit New Zealand, took out the Central title from total of five finalists. These included Derek Watson (manager development and integration services at Intergen), Tom Robinson (chief financial officer at NZQA), Ross Shepherd (supervising manager at Rangitaiki Station) and Lisa O’Leary (corporate services manager for Retail ITO).
In Auckland, Jason New (regional manager Auckland for Westpac Bank) “demonstrated the management and leadership qualities” necessary to earn the regional title ahead of six other contestants. These included Malcolm Johns (CEO of the Intercity Group), Adrienne Darling (manager corporate planning and strategy at Auckland Airport), Chantel Haarholf (general manager at L’Oréal), Michael Loretz (faculty leader at Massey High School, Glenn Mills (business manager at Life Pharmacy), and Jason Kiteley (group operations manager at Tru-Test).
There were two finalists from the Canterbury Region which, as NZIM’s regional CEO Reg Garters noted, has won the national award six times out of the past 11. These were Brett Gamble (strategy director for Solid Energy) and Michael Crowhen (operations manager for Fuji Xerox). Gamble was announced regional winner and will go on to the national finals.
Winner of the supreme NZIM/Eagle Technology Young Executive of the Year will be announced at the Deloitte / Management magazine Top 200 gala banquet in Auckland on November 23.
