Carole Durbin
The Southern Cross Medical Care Society board has appointed Durbin as director. Currently she is chair of Mighty River Power, chair of the Legal Services Agency, commissioner for the Earthquake Commission, and director of Fidelity Life. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Bruce Davidson.

Mark Innes
Oracle Australia has appointed Innes to the newly created role of general manager for its CRM business unit in Australia and New Zealand. He joins Oracle from WebMethods where he was managing director, ANZ.

Gilbert Enoka
Harcourts has promoted Enoka, head of the company’s training division since 2003, as general manager of Harcourts International.

Chris Mellsop
Mellsop has been appointed chief financial officer for DHL Express in New Zealand. He was previously with Express Couriers, the DHL/New Zealand Post joint venture.

Mike Watkins
Watkins has joined M&C Saatchi as general manager. He was most recently general manager advertising at Ogilvy New Zealand and formerly managing partner at Meares Taine/MTC.

George Benwell
The University of Otago has appointed Professor Benwell, currently head of the Information Science Department at the School of Business, as the next dean of the University’s School of Business, effective January 2007. He takes over from Professor Alan MacGregor in January.

John Bessey, David Guy, Brett Roberts
Following the appointment of Helen Robinson as country manager in July, Microsoft New Zealand has appointed Bessey as small and medium sized customer solutions and partner group director, and promoted Guy to enterprise group director and Roberts to director of innovation.

Amanda Somers, Vivian Cheng
Trans-Tasman law firm Minter Ellison Rudd Watts has promoted Somers and Cheng to senior associates in recognition of the experience they hold in their areas of practice.

David Lee
Lee has been appointed general manager of Nationwide Equipment, the New Zealand distributor for Takeuchi excavators. He has more than 20 years’ industry experience and was most recently with Cable Price as northern regional manager.

Tony Smith
Smith, currently professor of Criminal and Public Laws at the University of Cambridge, will return to New Zealand to take up his appointment early in 2007 as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Law at Victoria University of Wellington.

Brenda Stonestreet, Chris Abbott
Stonestreet has been appointed head of small to medium enterprise sales for TelstraClear. She has previously been head of contact centres and head of tools development for the telecommunications company and has past experience as consultant with Unisys. Abbott, most recently chief adviser at the Commerce Commission, has joined as group manager regulatory.

Grant Green, Tracy Preston-Lett
KPMG Tauranga has two new associates. Green has 10 years’ experience here and internationally in audit, commercial business and with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Preston-Lett has eight years’ experience as general practitioner.

Christopher Sharples
Workforce solutions provider Skilled Group has appointed Sharples, most recently general manager of NYK Group, as general manager of its New Zealand operations. The appointment is said to recognise the company’s strengthened focus on its New Zealand business.

Terry Zouch
Bluestone Group has appointed Zouch as general manager New Zealand for Bluestone Mortgages. He joins the group after 29 year career at ASB where he held senior management positions in the retail network.

Stephen Armstrong, Eric Reitman
New Zealand Exchange (NZX) has appointed Armstrong as chief financial officer and Reitman as head of strategy in recognition of the organisation’s need for more specialised skills in finance and strategy execution.
