New Zealand’s top companies are lagging behind their international counterparts when it comes to reporting sustainability performance in environmental, health and safety systems.
That’s according to recent study by BT Financial which notes that companies which don’t report on these issues to shareholders risk missing out on large amounts of money being invested by global pension funds. Its research found that only 18 of this country’s top 50 companies reported on their energy or greenhouse policies.
However, BT’s Sydney-based governance advisory service also singled out companies such as The Warehouse, Carter Holt Harvey and Ports of Auckland for “best practice reporting”.
