Electric Kiwi takes top ranking on 2018 Deloitte Fast 50 index

Auckland-based independent digital electricity company Electric Kiwi has secured the number one spot in the 2018 Deloitte Fast 50 index with a dramatic 3602 percent revenue growth over the past three years. This is the third time in the history of the New Zealand index that an electricity company has taken out the top slot, Deloitte says in a media release.

Structural steel frame building specialists Tuatara Structures (1682 percent), multi-discipline manufacturing firm Vertex Engineers (1144 percent), producers of sheep milk products, agribusiness company Blue River Dairy LP (938 percent) and home builders Cambridge Homes (897 percent) complete the 2018 top five fastest growing companies in New Zealand.

The annual Deloitte Fast 50 index, announced at the Deloitte Festival of Growth, ranks businesses experiencing rapid revenue growth over three years and sets the benchmark for high growth businesses in New Zealand.

The 2018 national Rising Star Award winner, recognising early stage companies who don’t yet qualify for the Fast 50 index, is sharing economy parking business Parkable. The runner-up, labeled Rising Star “One to Watch”, is investment platform Sharesies.

Southbase Construction has taken number one ranking on the second-ever Master of Growth index with 745 percent revenue growth over the past five years, followed by activity online booking engine experts Bookme (482 percent) and natural beauty product manufacturers MIX (437 percent).

Introduced in 2017, the Master of Growth index ranks the 20 fastest growing established businesses achieving longer term sustained growth. It ranks businesses starting from a larger revenue base, and over five years of revenue growth.

Deloitte Private Partner Bill Hale says the Fast 50 programme, now in its 18th year, isn’t just any old business awards programme.

“The Deloitte Fast 50 is a thriving centre for fast growing Kiwi businesses of all shapes and sizes. These innovators, entrepreneurs and pioneers of New Zealand business are accomplishing amazing things for their companies.

“The range of talent celebrated at the Fast 50 Festival of Growth shows us that all business types, from right across New Zealand, are excelling. What they have in common is a grounding in enduring business values like strategy, capability and commitment. And they flourish by making the most of their uniqueness and executing on their plans.”  Hale.
