The results are in for the 2014 Retail Employer of the Year awards which saw a record number of votes cast in New Zealand.
During a time when our industry is thriving and there have been many new international entrants to the market creating a strong employment brand is more important than ever. In 2011 Retailworld Resourcing partnered with the industry and established the Retail Employer of the Year award as a means of celebrating the brands that the public deemed to have forged the most desirable working environments.
Retailworld CEO, Trish McLean says “As competition ramps up in our local market it’s great to see local retailers owning their space by investing in strategies that engage current and potential employees”.
Retailworld Resourcing is excited to announce and celebrate the following winners as voted by New Zealand:
Taking out the large category for brands with in excess of 1000 full time equivalents (FTE) for the third consecutive year is The Warehouse. Voters described the brand as being “Truly people centered” with many commending it’s Career Retailer Wage and commitment to providing “continuous opportunities for further education and career development”.
Having won the title in 2013 Warehouse Stationery retains the top spot for the medium category(101- 1000 FTE). Warehouse Stationery was described as “focused on developing and nurturing all of its team members, maintaining a positive and friendly working environment and rewarding excellence”.
Winning the small category (<100 FTE) is Jeanswest. This marks Jeanswest’s first win within the New Zealand arm of the competition however the brand won the medium category in Australia during the 2013 campaign. One voter had this to say about the brand “They are very supportive, offer the right mentoring and coaching and always have the best interests of the employees in mind. I love working for them!”
Retailworld Resourcing would like to take this opportunity to thank Positive Peoplefor their sponsorship of the small category as well as everyone who showed their support to the industry and the retail employers that make it great by ‘voting retail’.
