Compared with McKinsey’s survey last year, more respondents say sustainability programmes make positive contribution to their companies’ short- and long-term value.
McKinsey says they are now pursuing goals that go far beyond earlier concern for reputation management.
They are, for example, saving energy, developing green products and retaining and motivating employees.
When questioned, 63 percent of the over 2900 respondents say they are currently reducing energy use in their operations and 61 percent report reducing waste.
Just over half are managing their corporate reputation for sustainability.
Just under half (46 percent) say they are responding to regulatory constraints and opportunities.
