The hunt is on for this year’s top entrepreneur – and those with pride in what their businesses have achieved should step up to the challenge of international competition.
That’s according to vintner George Fistonich, winner of the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and speaker at last month’s launch of the 2006 event. This year he’s off to represent New Zealand against 34 other national winners at the World Entrepreneur Awards in Monte Carlo where one of his judges will be previous New Zealand winner and founder of Les Mills, Phillip Mills.
Now in their ninth year in New Zealand and 20th worldwide, the awards provide opportunities for enterprising Kiwis to tap into the entrepreneurial network and share knowledge and inspiration with like-minded peers, says Awards director Carol Campbell.
There are five award categories for the 2006 programme including “young entrepreneur” for the under 30s and “master entrepreneur” for those heading an established business. Entries close on June 23 and the awards will be announced at banquet on October 11. The overall winner will follow in Fistonich’s footsteps to the 2007 world event in Monte Carlo.
