Educators want to get closer to business

Companies can now access their educational expertise via collaborative website – www.innovatingnz.org.nz . The main focus is on assisting companies to accelerate product development, improve operational processes and increase organisational capablility. The website features relevant training, consulting and available expertise as well as presenting case studies and news.

Meanwhile, the University of Waikato is planning to launch new Institute for Business Research (IBR) – part of big push by the university to set up specialist research institutes. The IBR’s focus will be: Business Performance and Leadership; Agribusiness and Innovation; Business in the Service Sector; and Business in Society.

The institute will incorporate the existing Management Research Centre, which produces the annual New Zealand Business Benchmarking Survey covering more than 5000 small businesses and also prepares business performance comparison surveys for industry sectors and economic impact reports.
