Air New Zealand is still on high. After ending 2009 with its CEO Rob Fyfe being chosen as Deloitte/Management magazine Executive of the Year, the airline has kicked off 2010 with the accolade of “Airline of the Year”.
Air Transport World – the leading global airline magazine which presented the award – said Air New Zealand was being honoured for its superb commitment to safety and operational excellence (typified by its use of Performance Based Navigation cockpit technology), and for “superb and groundbreaking customer service that combines high-tech, passenger-friendly IT systems with high-touch and caring staff”. The airline also earned praise for sterling fiscal management during tough times.
Tourism NZ acting CEO Tim Hunter described the win as an “outstanding achievement that will enhance New Zealand’s reputation as leading visitor destination”. The award was to be presented this month at gala dinner
in Singapore.
