Kiwi travellers who leave their accommodation bookings to the last minute will get discounts rather than inflated prices if they use the new website Laterooms.com.
The website recently expanded its service to include New Zealand hotels, motels and motor lodges in its database of over 3500 accommodation providers offering cut-price late-availability rooms.
Corporate and leisure travellers can get up to 80 percent discount on standard room rates by using the free service which assists both hotels with unsold rooms, and travellers looking for rooms at short notice.
Since it began in the UK in 1999, Laterooms.com has expanded its service to over 50 countries and now offers 200,000 bargain hotel rooms worldwide. In its first year more than NZ$21 million of bookings were generated for the participating hotels, guesthouses and bed and breakfast establishments.
Unlike other accommodation websites that charge commission, Laterooms.com lets customers book directly with the hotel by phone or email to get immediate confirmation. Hotels pay monthly fee to be listed on the site.
