Microsoft Smartens Up Mobiles

New Microsoft Windows-powered Smartphone software is tipped to turn the international mobile phone market on its ear. More than just talk, Smartphone software will allow users to choose their preferred method of communication – voice, email, MSN Messenger, or SMS. Information and services can be accessed at any time via Outlook.

The intuitive software enables seamless multi-tasking and provides companion to Outlook on mobile phone to manage contacts, calendar and tasks in mobile environment.

Manufacturers currently building Smartphone-based handsets include Samsung, Sendo, Compal Electronics and HTC Corporation. The handsets are already available in the UK, with plans for launch in the US by mid-2003.

A wide range of big-name mobile operators have agreed to provide support for Smartphone-based handsets on their networks, or are currently involved in Smartphone trials.
