Most recently Telstra Enterprise & Government’s Sydney-based principal – strategic financial planning and analysis, Hannan has been appointed chief financial officer of TelstraClear. CEO Dr Allan Freeth says the appointment reflects Telstra’s commitment to its New Zealand operation and the company’s policy of developing talent.

Warren Arthur
Nelson-based Brightwater Group has appointed Arthur as its chief executive officer. He joins the group with extensive national and international experience including oil and gas, energy, engineering, industrial plant and equipment services and was most recently executive general manager of Brisbane-based RCR Tomlinson’s energy and industrial services group.

Roly Smoldon
Specialist IT distribution company MPA NZ has promoted Smoldon from his previous role as enterprise director, to managing director. He succeeds current managing director Steve Macmillan, who will remain with the company as executive director, but is taking time out of the business to spend with family overseas.

Duncan Cotterill has attracted three new associates, two of whom have returned to the law firm after short absences. Robinson has joined the Wellington commercial team; Ryan, previously with Duncan Cotterill between 2002-07, brings broad experience in civil and commercial litigation; and Watson returns to join the growing environmental law team.

Not-for-profit organisation Dress for Success has new executive manager. Mackey has strong background in business management with experience in both the commercial and not-for-profit sector. She was most recently business manager for workplace solutions company BLJC, and prior to that was the CEO of software developer XO.

ING has named the new managing director for its life business, who takes over from Naomi Ballantyne. Nicoll has been with ING NZ for just over 10 years and was most recently managing director – real estate. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer and company secretary for ING Real Estate.

Colin De Freyne, Paul Gallagher
De Freyne joins Grant Thornton’s Auckland tax team. He has 24 years tax experience and has been the lead tax advisor to many private and public companies. Gallagher will be based in Wellington and joins Grant Thornton as national adviser, transfer pricing.

Nick Fletcher
Significant experience in the IT industry, understanding of the local partner market and strong business acumen see Fletcher promoted to multinational account (MNA) partner account manager at Microsoft New Zealand. He was most recently partner group manager for partner strategy and programmes.
