The recruitment sector in Australia and New Zealand is looking up as business confidence levels begin to recover from all-time lows, with 49.8 percent of recruiters now confident in business improvement during the next three months, up four percent from last quarter.
The results, part of RCSA’s recently released Quarterly Member Research, indicate that hiring conditions are stabilising. Julie Mills, chief executive officer of RCSA, said the recruitment industry had seen 40 percent increase in client interactions over the past quarter.
“This is good news for job seekers, as businesses become more optimistic in their hiring outlooks,” she said. “It also shows significant pay-off for the 38 percent of agencies who are offering new services to clients and expanding their services in talent management and productivity improvement. Being responsive to changing needs is the best way to ensure business remains relevant and profitable.”
However, the research suggests job seekers looking for permanent full-time employment will continue to find it tough with full-time permanent placements dipping five percent in the last quarter. On the positive side, contract and on-hire placements have almost doubled.
