UPFRONT Top management speakers

Leading experts in management strategy from Japan, London, and the United States will be speaking in Auckland over the next couple of months at the University of Auckland Business School’s inaugural New Hemisphere Speakers series.
First up on June 2 is Tokyo-based Kenichi Ohmae, former chair of McKinsey & Co’s Japan office, prolific business author and strategic management consultant who has been rated by The Economist as one of the world’s top management experts. He’ll be speaking on “The new strategy in the invisible continent”.
Talking about “Internationalisation strategies for companies from smaller economies” on June 16 will be man described as one of the world’s leading authorities on global strategy and marketing – George Yip of the London Business School.
He is followed on June 24 by Harvard professor Rosabeth Moss Kantner – leadership expert and business adviser whose subject is “Confidence: how winning streaks and losing streaks begin and end”.
The 2004 series also features Ireland’s former Prime Minister John Bruton who’ll describe the “Creating of the Celtic Tiger” (July 17) and Fonterra CEO Andrew Ferrier who’ll be talking about “The unique opportunities and challenges of the cooperative model” (June 10).
The series is open to the public and according to Business School dean Barry Spicer has been designed to help New Zealand meet the challenges of enterprise creation and growth in the global business environment.
