Airfares for flights originating in New Zealand are increas-ing significantly as airlines move to recover rising fuel costs, according to survey by American Express.
The most substantial rises are in full-price economy seats, which rose five percent. Discounted economy fares rose 4.5 percent, business class fares rose 4.3 percent and first-class rose 2.3 percent.
And the news is not good for the future, with more increases likely in the next quarter, particularly in Australia where GST is likely to push domestic prices up another 7.5 percent.
