The ASB scoreboard ranks the economic performance of New Zealand’s 16 Regional Council areas based on measures such as employment, construction, retail trade, house prices and car sales. Auckland received 4 on the 5-star rating scale and it was the seventh consecutive quarter it has been in top place. The region is near the top of the pack across broad range of measures, including house sales, employment, and guest nights. The favourable economic conditions are attracting more residents and tourists to the region. As result, population growth in Auckland has outpaced the rest of NZ.
At the other end of scale, with just one-star rating are Northland, Marlborough, Southland and, not surprisingly, Canterbury. Click here for the full regional roundup.
