Congratulations to Holmes Consulting Group for its victory in the 2009 NZIM Business Challenge – after several years of trying, it cracked it, coming in ahead of NZ Post, AMI Insurance and Chevron New Zealand.
For this year’s final, teams were asked to manage company that manufactured and supplied DVDs in series of declining markets, succumbing to the impact of new blu-ray technology. Their role was to maximise the return possible by using various pricing and marketing strategies whilst ensuring the rest of the logistical and production aspects of their business were operating effectively.
More than 100 teams originally entered the 2009 Challenge and the final proved tight contest with little separating the five teams (two from AMI) over the last contest. Over the six periods of the final, three teams took their turn in the lead. Holmes Consulting took the lead ahead of Chevron in period five and hung onto it until the final whistle.
For their efforts in the final, and dedication during the past three months of competition, the Holmes team have won trip for four to Samoa, staying at the new refurbished Sinalei Reef Resort and Spa.
