Industrial and light commercial buildings can now achieve Green Star rating with the release of the New Zealand Green Building Council’s (NZGBC) new Green Star Industrial Pilot rating tool.
The tool is designed to be used by owners, developers and consultants (eg, architects, engineers etc) to help minimise the environmental impacts of their projects as well as providing recognition through its green-star rating system. The system is being developed for different building types – from office and retail to health, education, residential and industrial with several pilots either out on the market or due for release.
These include ‘office design and built’, office interiors, education and industrial.
A four star Green Star NZ Certified Rating (score 45-59) signifies “best practice”, while five star (60-74) signifies “New Zealand excellence” and six star (75-100) represents “world leadership”.
The official launch in Auckland on 10 February at the Courier Post Building in East Tamaki’s Highbrook Business Park will include information and feedback on this new tool.
