IN TOUCH : A date with a difference

A new way of making business connections is racing around New Zealand. It’s Speed Networking, novel way of getting your name and message around room.
Like speed dating, which is an event attended by dozens of single people who talk briefly to potential partners and decide whether they might like to see any of them again, speed networking combines 90-second pitch with the idea of making professional rather than romantic contacts.
Enterprise North Shore says the events have been hugely popular with local businesspeople, many times more successful than traditional courses and events. Those attending the latest North Shore event at Albany Stadium on June 11 included corporates, franchisees, SMEs and sole traders.
A hot breakfast and the chance to connect with 19 other businesses at special stations costs $50.
