In touch : Future leaders sought

The hunt is on for applicants for Leadership New Zealand’s 2008 programme. Leadership New Zealand, not-for-profit trust, was set up in 2004 to focus on developing and enhancing the quality of future leaders. The year-long leadership programme is one of the initiatives to nurture and channel the leadership expertise of “mid career” New Zealanders.
“Throughout the programme year, Leadership New Zealand gives emerging leaders the opportunity to discover new ways of thinking and decision making. Participants also have the unique opportunity to talk to cross section of today’s leaders and learn from their varied experiences,” says Tony Nowell, ceo Zespri International and deputy chairman of Leadership New Zealand.
Teresa Tepania-Ashton, chief executive officer, Te Runanga Iwi O Ngapuhi and 2006 participant says: “The programme brings high level of engagement with key leaders throughout New Zealand, which otherwise would not be available. This in itself has huge benefits to you as an individual, your organisation and your community. I have gained much better appreciation of national and international issues and the role we all play as leaders, as well as ensuring my own commitment to balanced lifestyle and the growth of new leaders within our communities.”
•Applications close on 30th September 2007. Forms are available at the Leadership New Zealand website, www.leadershipnz.co.nz.
