Anita’s readers
Once again Anita Roddick (Management, May 2002) inspires and encourages, but she is wrong about who will read her book [Take it Personally: How Globalisation Affects You and Powerful Ways to Change It]. It will also be read by optimistic managers who, through their business activities, are trying to ensure peaceful, fair, clean planet can be left to great-grandchildren. It will be people like myself who are involved with sustainability training for business people and helping them come to terms with the complexities of the world we all live in.
It won’t be managers like one of the senior members of NZIM I spoke to recently, who quipped that the future will consist of pessimism and coffee coloured people living under feudal state, and that it didn’t worry him because he wouldn’t be there anyway. Sad. Very sad.
