Job advertising is still on the rise, pointing to ongoing strength in the employment market, according to the latest ANZ Job Ads series.
It recorded one-percent lift in newspaper advertising in May 2004 returning the series to the third highest level in its 10-year history and representing 13 percent increase since last May. Internet job advertising also rose in May by 3.3 percent, helping to reverse falls in three previous months.
Increases across both media translate to 1.6- percent monthly rise in total job ads and an annual lift of 14.1 percent.
Further employment gains are expected through 2004 – though at more modest rate.
