Christchurch-based Canterbury District Health Board executive Dan Coward has been re-elected chairman of NZIM. Deputy chair is fellow director and 2012 NZIM/Eagle Technology Young Executive of the Year and general manager – sales and marketing of Wellington-based Medical Assurance Society, Glenys Talivai (picture).

The board is also seeking a director to replace Joanne O’Connor MNZIM, training manager for the Otago Southland Employers’ Association, who stepped down this month after three years on the NZIM board.

NZIM is also currently recruiting a new chief executive to succeed interim CEO and former board chairman Gary Sturgess. “Gary is doing a great job managing the transition following the retirement of former CEO Kevin Gaunt but it’s now time to complete the succession process,” says Coward. “It was important to make a temporary appointment to understand the needs of the organisations going forward. Gary stepped up to ensure that transition is done correctly and with the least possible disruption. We see the appointment of a new CEO as an opportunity to re-energise NZIM.”
