The proposed changes to our Emissions Trading Scheme are “disappointing” and appear to greatly reduce incentives to heavy emitters to reduce emissions. Instead they load more cost onto taxpayers.
That’s according to the NZ Business Council for Sustainable Development, which also laments the lost opportunity to forge broadly based multi-party deal that might have some inherent sustainability.
