McKinsey sustainability survey: room for improvement

So say Sheila Bonini and Stephan Gorner, the authors of ‘Putting it into practice’ — follow-up think-piece to the latest McKinsey global survey on the business of sustainability.

Bonini and Gorner say many companies still take fragmented and reactive approach to sustainability rather than handling it as an issue that has direct impact on business results.

Most companies launch “ad hoc initiatives to enhance their green credentials, to comply with regulations or to deal with emergencies”, they say.

Bonini is consultant in McKinsey’s Silicon Valley office while Gorner is Sydney-based McKinsey director.
